Family Services Windsor-Essex

Elder Abuse Response Service: A free, voluntary program that assists older adults who are experiencing neglect, bullying, and abuse. Offers professional advocacy and support, by working to enhance individual self-determination through community support and ongoing engagement. 

Adult Protective Service Worker Program (APSW): Assists adults with developmental disabilities living in the community to be independent, safe, and secure. Areas of support include health and well-being management, social planning, advocacy, housing, voluntary trusteeship, and personal planning.

Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee

A government authority that provides ongoing services to Ontario residents deemed as “mentally incapable” to protect their financial, legal, and personal well-being. The Office also makes financial decisions for persons found "mentally incapable,” acts as a Substitute Decision Maker, and administers estates following a person’s death when all avenues of familial relation are exhausted..

Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority

Protects and ensures the security/well-being of seniors living in retirement homes. Responsibilities include responding to and investigating complaints and addressing reports of harm to residents. 


Southwest Ontario Aboriginal Health Access Centre (SOAHAC)

A community organization providing health and wellness services to Indigenous (First Nation, Métis, Inuit) people. SOAHAC Windsor offers primary care, traditional healing, mental health, and dietitian services. Their mental health team can also link clients to external supports across the community.

A 24-hour crisis and support line for seniors in Ontario who have experienced any type of abuse, neglect, or maltreatment. Offers emotional support, safety planning, and information through the assistance of a live counsellor.


Windsor-Essex Project Life Saver

Clients registered with Project Lifesaver wear a personalized bracelet that emits a tracking signal to assist law enforcement personnel in locating a missing/vulnerable person.


Windsor Police Service

Vulnerable Persons Registry: This registry provides Windsor Police with quick access to critical information about a registered vulnerable person. This information can assist officers in communicating with, attending a residence of, or dealing with an emergency involving an individual who has wandered. The Registry is accessible only to populations residing within the City of Windsor and the Town of Amherstburg and must be renewed yearly.

Autism Registry: This registry provides Windsor Police with information about a person with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This information can assist officers in communicating with, attending a residence of, or providing services to a person with autism. This voluntary service is available only within the City of Windsor and Town of Amherstburg, and must be renewed yearly.
