All victims are entitled to courtesy, compassion, and respect for their personal dignity and privacy.
Victims also have the right to information throughout the legal process, including information about:
- services and remedies available to them
- financial compensation that might assist them
- the progress of police investigations that relate to the crime
- procedures of the court and the victims’ role in the prosecution
- the release of an accused on bail
- the sentence given to an accused, if convicted

Options Available for Victims in Ontario
In the aftermath of a criminal act, a victim may qualify for immediate emergency supports, or victim-centred measures during the criminal justice process.
