Towing
Vehicles can be towed by Windsor Police following a collision, or as the result of an arrest, impound, or licence suspension.
The Windsor Police Service contracts with A.M.-P.M. Towing, and community members can select a company of their choice for collision-related towing.
Retrieving a Towed Vehicle
If your vehicle was towed following an arrest, impound, or licence suspension, you will require a police release to retrieve it from the tow lot. (See below for instructions on obtaining a police release.) After obtaining a police release, you can attend the A.M.-P.M. tow lot during regular business hours to retrieve the vehicle.
Most vehicles towed from a collision scene do not require a police release. You can attend the A.M.-P.M. tow lot during regular business hours to retrieve the vehicle.
Vehicles will be released only to the registered owner alongside valid identification, registration, and proof of insurance.
Before attending the tow lot, contact A.M.-P.M. to confirm hours of operation, applicable fees, and other details.
Obtaining a Police Release
You can obtain a police release from Windsor Police Headquarters (150 Goyeau Street) between 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., seven days a week.
Releases will be provided only to the registered owner alongside valid identification, registration, and proof of insurance.
