Motorcyclist critically injured in collision

A 39-year-old man is in critical condition following an early-morning motorcycle crash.

Shortly after 3:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of a vehicle collision on Riverside Drive East near Ford Boulevard. A preliminary investigation determined that the man was travelling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a utility pole. 

The motorcyclist was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.  

Riverside Drive East was closed between Buckingham Road and Thompson Boulevard for several hours while members of the Traffic Reconstruction Unit investigated the collision.
