Senior in wheelchair killed in collision

An investigation is underway after a 73-year-old man using a motorized wheelchair was struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing the street. 

On October 4, 2026, at approximately 7 p.m., officers responded to a report of a collision involving a man using a wheelchair at the intersection of Crawford Avenue and Riverside Drive West. A preliminary investigation determined that the pedestrian was crossing southbound on Crawford Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle travelling westbound on Riverside Drive West.

The man was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver remained at the scene.

The intersection was closed for several hours while members of the Windsor Police Service Traffic Reconstruction Unit processed the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
