Youth arrested after pepper spray assault 

A 16-year-old has been arrested after allegedly threatening a woman and spraying three employees with suspected pepper spray at a local business. 

At approximately 6 p.m. on September 15, 2026, officers responded to a report of an assault at a convenience store in the 400 block of Chippawa Street. Officers learned that the suspect had threatened to kill a woman who was standing outside the business. The youth then entered the store and, after being refused service, sprayed three employees with a noxious substance before fleeing on foot.  

The substance spread throughout the property, forcing the business to close. 

Officers quickly located and arrested the suspect nearby. 

The 16-year-old suspect, who cannot be named in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with: 

• Assault with a weapon (x3)

• Administering a noxious thing with intent to aggrieve (x3)

• Uttering threats to cause death • Mischief interfering with lawful enjoyment of a property

• Failure to comply with a release order (x4)
