Two suspects arrested after shots fired

The Windsor Police Service has arrested two suspects after shots were fired near the corner of Victoria Ave. and Wyandotte St. West on Monday evening.

Shortly before 10 p.m. on August 31, 2026, officers responded to the 700 block of Victoria Ave. for a report of a person with a firearm. 

Through investigation, officers learned there had been a dispute earlier that evening near the corner of Dougall Ave. and Wyandotte St. West. Two men known to each other were arguing over money when one brandished a firearm. The other male then grabbed the gun and fired, causing the first male to flee the scene.

Police seized the firearm nearby. A short time later, officers identified and apprehended both male parties without incident. 

No physical injuries have been reported.

Justin Jariett, 41, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a firearm without a licence
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Possession of a loaded firearm
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
  • Possession of a firearm with an altered serial number
  • Possession of a firearm while prohibited
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm (x 2)
  • Breach of probation (x 4)

Brandon Malott, 32, has been charged with: 

  • Possession of a firearm without a licence
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Possession of a loaded firearm
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
  • Possession of a firearm with an altered serial number
  • Possession of a firearm while prohibited
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Discharging a firearm being reckless to the life or safety of another person 
  • Failure to comply with a release order

Investigators are seeking dashcam, surveillance footage, and witness information from anyone who was in the area between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. on August 31, 2026.
