SIU invokes mandate after fatal vehicle collision 

The Ontario Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate following a fatal motor vehicle collision. 

Shortly after 4 p.m. on August 30, 2026, a Windsor Police officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop near the intersection of St. Luke Road and Seminole Street. The vehicle did not stop and collided with several vehicles a short distance away. 

One person was pronounced deceased.  

Seminole Street remains closed between Walker Road to Albert Road, and St. Luke Road remains closed between Reginald  Street to Metcalfe Street as the investigation continues. Drivers are asked to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. 

The SIU has invoked its mandate and is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. In accordance with provincial legislation, the Windsor Police Service will not comment further on matters under SIU investigation.
