Police arrest suspect following dangerous driving on Ambassador Bridge

Windsor police have arrested a 32-year-old man following an incident of dangerous driving on the Ambassador Bridge.

On Friday, August 28, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Windsor Police officers were dispatched to the Ambassador Bridge to assist the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) after a driver failed to stop at the border inspection lanes.

Upon arrival, officers began speaking with the driver in question when he became combative. When asked to step out of the vehicle, he refused and began driving the car at a high rate of speed, injuring one Windsor Police officer and one CBSA officer.

The vehicle subsequently hit several barriers and flipped over. The male suspect then fled the area on foot. Officers pursued the suspect and arrested him a short time later without further incident.

Both officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.

A 32-year-old man has been charged with:

•Dangerous operation of a vehicle

•Obstructing a peace officer

•Assaulting a peace officer with a weapon

The investigation remains ongoing.
