Wanted murder suspect arrested after police seize loaded firearm and drugs
Following an investigation at an east-end residence, the Windsor Police Service has arrested two suspects and seized a loaded firearm and over $11,000 of illegal drugs.
At approximately 7 a.m. on August 22, 2026, officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in the 1300 block of Lauzon Road.
During the course of their investigation, officers discovered a loaded restricted firearm and a significant quantity of suspected illegal drugs, including 41.6 grams of fentanyl and 89.2 grams of cocaine. The estimated value of drugs seized was $11,416.
Both suspects were arrested without incident.
Through further investigation, officers learned that the male suspect was wanted by the Toronto Police Service for second-degree murder and attempted murder.
Darriel Thompson, 26, and Jaylah Mercedes Browne, 24, have each been charged with:
• Possession of a loaded regulated firearm
• Possession of a firearm knowingly not holding a licence
• Possession of a prohibited device knowing no authority
• Careless use, handling or storage of a firearm
• Possession of a firearm with an altered serial number
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (x 3)
Browne was additionally charged with:
• Possession of a firearm while prohibited
• Breach of probation
