Windsor Police launch inaugural Chief’s Gala to support community initiatives

The Windsor Police Service is pleased to announce the launch of its inaugural Chief's Gala, an annual fundraising event that will support programs and organizations making a positive impact in the Windsor-Essex community.

The first Chief’s Gala will take place on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the St. Clair College Centre for the Arts. The event will recognize the achievements of Windsor Police members and community partners through a series of awards, while raising funds to support two important local programs.

Proceeds from this year’s event will support Camp Brombal, a Windsor Police-led youth engagement program, and the Canadian Mental Health Association – Windsor-Essex County Branch (CMHA-WECB), which provides mental health and community health services. Both initiatives reflect the Windsor Police Service’s ongoing commitment to youth engagement, community well-being, and public safety.

“Strong communities are built through strong partnerships,” said Windsor Police Chief Jason Crowley. “The Chief’s Gala is an opportunity to recognize the people and organizations who help make our community stronger, celebrate the achievements of our members, and support programs that have a meaningful impact across Windsor-Essex.”

Since 2002, Camp Brombal has provided a free, four-day summer camp experience for Grade 6 students enrolled in the Windsor Police V.I.P. (Values, Influences and Peers) program. Each July, approximately 40 students participate in camp activities focused on building confidence, developing leadership skills, and creating positive connections with police officers. Hundreds of children have taken part in the program over the past two decades.

The CMHA-WECB provides a range of mental health and community health services to support individuals and families across Windsor-Essex. From mental health support and primary care to other essential programs, the CMHA-WECB helps ensure people have access to vital services when they need them.

“The CMHA-WECB is proud to partner with the Windsor Police Service through the Chief’s Gala,” said Nicole Sbrocca, Chief Executive Officer of CMHA-WECB. “Partnerships like this allow us to continue providing essential mental health services and create more opportunities for people to access the care they need. We are proud to be part of an event that brings our community together and helps strengthen the supports available to people across Windsor-Essex.”

Additional details about the inaugural Chief’s Gala, including the announcement of award recipients, will be released in the coming weeks.
