Police seek public's help after 7 Bird e-scooters stolen

The Windsor Police Service is investigating after seven Bird electric scooters were stolen and stripped for parts.

On August 5, 2026, officers began investigating after receiving a report that seven Bird e-scooters had been stolen from Walkerville. Investigators learned that the e-scooters had been taken from the area of Wyandotte Street East and Windermere Road between 2 p.m. and 11 p.m. the previous day.

Investigators determined that the e-scooters had been stripped of parts, including their battery mechanisms, rendering them inoperable. One of the stolen e-scooters was recovered cut in half in an alley near the 300 block of Ouellette Avenue.

Investigators are asking businesses and residents in the areas of Ouellette Avenue and Park Street West, as well as the 1700 block of Wyandotte Street East, to check their surveillance cameras for anything that may assist with the investigation.

So far this year, a total of 18 Bird e-scooters have been reported stolen in Windsor.
