Man charged with impaired driving after crashing into house 

The Windsor Police Service has charged a 27-year-old man with impaired driving after a vehicle crashed into a house. 

Shortly after 2:30 a.m. on August 13, 2026, officers responded to a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a residence in the 1600 block of Armanda Street. Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle on the front lawn of the home, with its front bumper against the front steps. The driver remained inside the vehicle. 

Officers observed several signs of impairment on the driver, including glossy, red eyes, slurred speech, unsteadiness on his feet, and difficulty staying awake. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to Windsor Police headquarters, where he provided a breath test that registered more than twice the legal blood alcohol limit. 

No injuries were reported. The residence sustained more than $10,000 in damage. 

Gorgees Shukri, 27, has been charged with impaired operation of a vehicle and operation with a blood alcohol concentration at or over 80 mg%.
