Suspect charged following south Windsor break-ins
The Windsor Police Service has arrested a 55-year-old man and laid 11 charges in connection with three residential break-ins in South Windsor.
Shortly after 5 a.m. on July 22, 2026, officers responded to a reported break-and-enter at a home in the 3700 block of Whitney Avenue. Investigators determined that a suspect damaged a large section of a fence to enter the victim’s yard. The suspect then spray-painted the victim’s surveillance cameras before stealing several items from a detached garage.
Investigators later connected the same suspect to another break-and-enter that occurred earlier that same morning. Shortly before 3 a.m., the suspect attended a residence in the 3700 block of Myrtle Avenue, where he spray-painted a surveillance camera before stealing several items from a shed.
Investigators were also able to link the suspect to a break-and-enter that occurred in the 2800 block of Northway Avenue on July 13, 2026. In that incident, the suspect broke into an attached garage and stole several items before entering the residence while the homeowner was asleep inside. Additional property was stolen from inside the residence.
Through investigation, officers identified the suspect as Darrell Heisler, 55.
Shortly before 7 p.m. on July 30, officers located Heisler in the 1700 of Northway Ave. He was taken into custody following a brief foot pursuit.
Heisler has been charged with the following:
• Break-and-enter and commit to a place other than dwelling (x 2)
• Break-and-enter and commit to a dwelling house
• Wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence (x 3)
• Mischief under $5,000 (x 2)
• Breach of probation (x 3)
