Police seize over $150,000 in cash and illegal drugs   


The Windsor Police Service has arrested an 18-year-old man and seized more than $150,000 in cash and illegal drugs following a drug trafficking investigation.

Last month, the Windsor Police Drugs and Guns Unit began an investigation into a male suspected of trafficking illegal drugs in the city of Windsor.

Shortly after 12 p.m. on July 15, 2026, members of the Drugs and Guns Unit, with assistance from the Emergency Services Unit, located a vehicle associated with the suspect in a parking lot in the 7100 block of Enterprise Way.

As officers attempted to apprehend the suspect, he struck two police vehicles while attempting to flee. Following the collisions, the suspect was arrested without further incident. No physical injuries were reported.

Incident to the arrest, officers seized $5,585 in Canadian currency from the suspect. Police later executed search warrants at a residence in the 900 block of St. Luke Avenue, as well as two vehicles linked to the suspect.

During the searches, officers seized 129.4 grams of crack cocaine, 1,420.3 grams of cocaine, 160.1 grams of crystal meth, and 46 oxycodone tablets, as well as digital scales and packaging materials.

The total estimated street value of the seized drugs is $145,344.

Rasithan Akilan, 18, has been charged with:

•    Possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking (x 6)

•    Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

•    Flight from peace officer
