Suspect arrested after unprovoked baseball bat assault

The Windsor Police Service has arrested a 25-year-old suspect in connection with a seemingly unprovoked attack involving a baseball bat.

Shortly before 5 p.m. on July 2, 2026, officers responded to a report of an assault with a weapon at a residence in the 6300 block of Riverside Drive East. Officers learned that a contractor working outside the home was approached by an unknown man wearing only underwear and carrying a baseball bat. The suspect then attacked the victim, striking him approximately 12 times, including four blows to the head, in what investigators believe was a random assault.

The victim fled into the residence and locked the door. The suspect followed and smashed the front sidelight and front door windows, causing approximately $1,500 in damage, before leaving the area.

The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers quickly located and arrested the suspect at a nearby residence.

Tiger Yang, 25, has been charged with assault with a weapon and mischief under $5,000.
