Motorist charged after fleeing collision

 

The Windsor Police Service has charged a 23-year-old man after fleeing the scene of a motor vehicle collision.

Shortly after 9 p.m. on June 23, 2026, officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision in the area of Wyandotte Street East and Marentette Avenue. Officers learned a vehicle was travelling eastbound on Wyandotte St. E. when it attempted to turn northbound onto Marentette Ave. and collided with another vehicle. Both drivers sustained minor injuries.

One of the drivers had fled the scene on foot before police arrived. Officers quickly located the suspect behind a residence in the 700 block of Wyandotte St. E. and brought him back to the collision scene.

Through their investigation, officers determined that the driver was operating a motor vehicle while under suspension and without a valid driver's licence.

Satkartar Singh, 23, has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following offences:

  • Failure to remain at the scene of a collision
  • Careless driving
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Failure to properly wear a seat belt

 The vehicle involved was impounded for seven days.
