Pedestrian dies after early morning collision

The Windsor Police Service is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

On May 2, 2026, at approximately 5 a.m., officers responded to a report of a collision near the intersection of Howard Avenue and Charles Street. Once on scene, they located an unresponsive man lying in the roadway. A preliminary investigation indicates the man was attempting to cross the street when he was struck by a vehicle travelling northbound on Howard Avenue.

The 69-year-old man was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Howard Avenue remains closed in both directions between Edinborough Street and Grand Marais Road East as members of the Windsor Police Service Traffic Reconstruction Unit continue their investigation.
