Fatal pedestrian crash under investigation

The Windsor Police Service is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

On April 15, 2026, at approximately 10 p.m., officers responded to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian in the 1600 block of Tecumseh Road East. A preliminary investigation determined that a 65-year-old woman was crossing the street mid-block when she was struck by an oncoming vehicle. The impact caused the pedestrian to be thrown into the opposite lane, where she was struck by a second vehicle.

The woman was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the first vehicle stayed at the scene, while the second driver failed to remain.

Tecumseh Road East was closed between Windermere Road and Lincoln Road while members of the Windsor Police Service Traffic Reconstruction Unit conducted their investigation. The roadway has since been reopened.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information or video footage is asked to contact the Windsor Police Service Traffic Enforcement Unit at 519-255-6700, ext. 7032.
