Two drivers charged with impaired driving
The Windsor Police Service arrested two motorists for impaired driving in separate incidents overnight.
Shortly after midnight on March 20, 2026, officers responded to a report of a possible impaired driver in the area of Tecumseh Road East and Drouillard Road. Upon arrival, officers located a male driver asleep behind the wheel, with his foot on the brake and the vehicle still in drive.
While speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of drug impairment and placed him under arrest. He subsequently failed a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) evaluation at police headquarters. A search of the vehicle uncovered multiple packages of suspected fentanyl and cocaine as well as $860 in cash.
Robbie Lawrence Towsley, 39, has been charged with:
- Impaired operation of a conveyance
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (x 2)
Approximately 15 minutes later, officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of Dougall Avenue for a two-vehicle collision in a parking lot. During the interaction with one of the drivers, officers detected a strong odour of alcohol and observed other signs of impairment. The man was transported to police headquarters, where he failed a breath test.
No physical injuries were reported as a result of the collision.
Peters Yonis, 65, has been charged with:
- Operation of a conveyance while impaired by alcohol
- Impaired operation of a conveyance with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit
