Two arrested for dangerous and impaired driving
The Windsor Police Service arrested two drivers over the weekend in separate incidents involving dangerous and impaired driving.
On March 14, 2026, at approximately 8:30 a.m., officers responded to the 2000 block of Westminster Avenue for a report of a man unresponsive behind the wheel of a vehicle with the engine running. Upon arrival, officers observed the driver slumped over the steering wheel and positioned their cruisers in front of and behind the vehicle as a precaution.
When an officer knocked on the driver’s window, the man suddenly woke and placed the vehicle in reverse, striking the cruiser behind him. He then accelerated forward and collided with the cruiser positioned in front of the vehicle. Officers broke a window, removed the driver from the vehicle, and took him into custody without further incident.
Justin David Loma, 38, has been charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance and prohibited operation of a motor vehicle (x3). He is currently prohibited from driving Canada-wide due to a lengthy history of Criminal Code driving convictions.
Shortly after 10 p.m. that same day, officers responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on E.C. Row Expressway near Walker Road. Officers learned the driver lost control while travelling westbound, entering a ditch where the vehicle caught fire. Windsor Fire & Rescue Services extinguished the blaze.
When interacting with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment, including slurred speech and a strong odour of alcohol. The driver was arrested at the scene.
Stephen Jamie Pike, 54, has been charged with operation of a conveyance while impaired and refusal to provide a sample.
