One arrested, two sought for stolen vehicle, break-and-enter

The Windsor Police Service has arrested one suspect and is searching for two others following an investigation into a stolen vehicle and commercial break-and-enter.

Shortly after 3 a.m. on March 8, 2026, two suspects were captured on surveillance footage stealing a 2017 Dodge Charger from the driveway of a residence in the 2300 block of Meldrum Road.

Several hours later, the two suspects, now joined by a third person, drove the stolen vehicle to a business in the 2000 block of Riverside Drive East. The trio used bolt cutters to cut a hole in a fence surrounding the property, and one suspect entered the yard and attempted to break into a tractor trailer. When a security guard spotted them, the suspects fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.

Members of the Windsor Police Target Base Unit investigated the incident and soon identified one of the suspects as Michael Christopher Bernard, 46. On March 11, officers located and arrested Bernard in the 800 block of Ouellette Avenue.

He has been charged with the following:

  • Break-and-enter a non-dwelling with intent
  • Theft of a motor vehicle
  • Wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Possession of break-in instruments
  • Failure to comply with a release order

Two additional suspects remain outstanding.

The first suspect is described as a white male with a large build. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black ski mask, grey hoodie, red T-shirt, dark brown pants, and black Nike shoes with white soles.

The second suspect is described as a white female with a slender build. At the time of the incident, she was wearing a black jacket with the hood up, black pants, light-coloured socks, and a scarf.

The stolen Dodge Charger was recovered and returned to its owner.
