Man charged with abduction, drugging, and sexual assault
The Windsor Police Service has charged a 34-year-old man in connection with the abduction, drugging, and sexual assault of a woman.
On February 17, 2026, a woman came forward to police to report a sexual assault. She told officers that a man known to her had approached her near Goyeau Street and Wyandotte Street East and forced her into a vehicle. The suspect then took her to a hotel in the city’s west end, where she was confined for about one week.
During that time, she was reportedly sexually assaulted and threatened, with weapons used or displayed to prevent her from leaving. The suspect also administered a drug to her without her consent. After the suspect left, the woman was able to escape and contact police.
The Windsor Police Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit (CASA) investigated and identified the suspect as Michael Walter Peltier, 34.
On March 11, at approximately 11 a.m., members of the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Unit located and arrested Peltier in downtown Windsor. He has been charged with the following:
- Kidnapping
- Forcible confinement
- Sexual assault with a weapon
- Sexual assault
- Assault with a weapon (x 2)
- Overcoming resistance to offence by administering a drug
- Discharging a firearm
- Uttering threats
- Failure to comply with a release order
At the time of the arrest, Peltier was subject to a release order stemming from unrelated matters and was prohibited from possessing weapons.
