Suspect arrested after two people assaulted at house gathering

The Windsor Police Service has arrested a 33-year-old man following an aggravated assault.

Shortly before 6 a.m. on March 9, 2026, officers responded to a report of an altercation at a residence in the 900 block of Campbell Ave. Officers arrived and learned that the suspect attended a social gathering he had not been invited to. When asked to leave, the suspect refused.

Following a verbal altercation, the suspect used a weapon to strike a 21-year-old male in the face, causing serious facial injuries. The suspect then assaulted a 17-year-old female, causing her to lose consciousness, before fleeing the scene. 

The 21-year-old victim was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 17-year-old victim suffered minor injuries and was treated on scene. 

Through investigation, officers identified the suspect as 33-year-old Trui Chin.

Later that afternoon, officers located Chin at a residence in the 900 block of Windsor Ave. and arrested him without incident.

Chin has been charged with:

•    Aggravated assault

•    Assault with a weapon

•    Assault

•    Unlawfully in a dwelling house

•    Breach of probation
