Man arrested, rifle seized following threats toward EMS personnel

The Windsor Police Service has arrested a 43-year-old man and seized a rifle after emergency medical personnel were threatened while responding to a call for service.

Shortly before 2 a.m. on March 4, 2026, officers responded to a report of a woman in medical distress in the 3000 block of Sandwich Street West. When officers arrived, Essex-Windsor County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel were providing medical assistance to the woman.

During the response, a man inside the residence became aggressive and threatened to shoot the paramedics. Officers quickly detained the man to ensure the safety of those at the scene. The woman was transported to hospital for further medical care.

Officers subsequently confirmed that the suspect had made threats toward EMS personnel. He was arrested without further incident.

Incident to the arrest, officers located and seized a Kodiak Defence rifle and ammunition from the residence.

Daniel Pinnace, 43, has been charged with the following:

•    Uttering threats to cause death

•    Possession of a restricted firearm without a licence

•    Possession of a prohibited weapon without lawful authority

•    Possession of a firearm while prohibited

•    Contravention of the Firearms Act
