Two suspects charged with sexual assault, loaded firearm

The Windsor Police Service has charged two men in connection with a sexual assault investigation that led to the seizure of a loaded firearm and suspected illicit drugs.

Shortly after 10 p.m. on March 1, 2026, officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in the 2700 block of Pillette Road. Upon arrival, officers learned that a female resident had been sexually assaulted by two men inside her apartment and was requesting their removal from the premises. 

Officers located one of the suspects inside a bedroom. While officers directed the man to stand, he reached toward his waistband. Officers immediately intervened, safely gaining control of the suspect and taking him into custody. A subsequent search resulted in the seizure of a loaded 9mm handgun. 

A second suspect was also located and arrested without incident.

Incident to the arrests, officers seized a quantity of suspected cocaine and digital scales.

As a result of the investigation, 29-year-old Khandon Paulo Tombura has been charged with:

•    Sexual assault

•    Possession of a loaded firearm

•    Carrying a concealed weapon

•    Occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm

•    Possession of a firearm without holding a licence

•    Possession of a prohibited weapon knowing no authority

•    Possession of prohibited ammunition knowing no authority

•    Possession of a firearm with an altered serial number 

•    Contravention of the Firearms Act Regulation

•    Possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking

•    Breach of probation (x2)

James Tarief, 28, has been charged with sexual assault and possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking.
