Assault suspect arrested for breaching bail conditions
WINDSOR POLICE NEWS RELEASE
Case #: #26-14444
Assault suspect arrested for breaching bail conditions
A 35-year-old man facing assault-related offences has been arrested for violating his bail conditions.
In November 2025, John Albert Woods was granted bail on charges including assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, failure to comply with a release order, and failure to comply with an undertaking. As part of his release conditions, Woods was required to abide by several judicial restrictions while in the community, including house arrest and electronic monitoring.
Following an investigation, bail compliance officers determined that Woods had breached the conditions of his release.
Shortly before 11 a.m. on February 13, 2026, bail compliance officers located and arrested Woods in the 100 block of Oak Street. He has been charged with one count of failure to comply with a release order.
The bail compliance officers are part of the Offender Management Unit, a partnership between the Windsor and LaSalle Police Services launched in March 2024. This unit supervises high-risk individuals placed under house arrest, curfew, or electronic monitoring and ensures that those who violate their judicial release orders are held accountable. The Offender Management Unit is funded by a grant from the Government of Ontario as part of the province’s strategy to strengthen Ontario’s bail system.
