Youth arrested after motor vehicle theft
The Windsor Police Service has arrested a 17-year-old youth in connection with a motor vehicle theft.
Shortly before 8 a.m. on February 5, 2026, officers responded to a report of a vehicle stolen from a restaurant parking lot in the 3000 block of Tecumseh Road East. Once on scene, officers learned that the suspect entered an unoccupied Ford Fusion that had been left running with the keys inside. The suspect, described as wearing a black balaclava, fled the area with the vehicle.
Later that evening, officers located and recovered the stolen motor vehicle in the 5400 block of Reginald Street later. During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered a .38-calibre bullet.
On February 7, officers located and arrested the suspect without incident in the 1600 block of Drouillard Road.
The suspect, who cannot be named in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with:
- Theft of a motor vehicle
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence
- Operation while prohibited
- Failure to comply with a youth sentence order (x2)
