Suspect arrested after violent assault
The Windsor Police Service has arrested a 51-year-old man following an early-morning assault that left a victim with significant injuries.
Shortly before 3:30 a.m. on January 8, 2026, officers responded to a report of an assault at a residence in the 1400 block of Erie Street East. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim and learned they had fled the house after being assaulted, choked, and threatened by someone known to them.
The victim sustained severe but non-life-threatening injuries and received medical attention.
Officers quickly located the suspect in an alley behind the residence and took him into custody following a brief foot pursuit. At the time of his arrest, he was in possession of a concealed knife and pepper spray.
Charles Hetry, 51, has been charged with the following: Assault
- Assault with choking
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
- Carrying a concealed weapon (x2)
- Possession of a prohibited weapon (x2)
- Failure to comply with release order (x6)
