Two suspects arrested for commercial break-ins, vehicle thefts
The Windsor Police Service has arrested two suspects in connection with a string of commercial break-ins and vehicle thefts.
On January 6, 2026, shortly after 4 a.m., two individuals attempted to break through the front door of a business in the 2400 block of Dougall Avenue. Although they were unsuccessful, the business sustained damage to its entrance.
Shortly afterward, the same suspects targeted a business in the 1800 block of Ottawa Street, breaking the front window to gain entry. They stole cash, tools, and the keys to two commercial vehicles, which they then removed from the parking lot.
The Windsor Police Service Auto Theft Unit investigated and soon identified the suspects. On January 9, both individuals were located and arrested in the 900 block of Elsmere Avenue.
Rishad Lufti, 46, and Mitchell Larocque, 43, are each charged with the following:
- Break-and-enter and commit theft under $5,000
- Attempted break-and-enter
- Possession of break-and-enter tools (x2)
- Theft of a motor vehicle (x2)
- Theft under $5,000
In addition, Larocque is charged with wearing a disguise during the commission of a crime (x2) and breach of probation.
