$15,000 in illegal drugs seized from psilocybin dispensary

 

The Windsor Police Service has charged one individual and seized $15,740 in illegal drugs from a dispensary that sells psilocybin, commonly known as magic mushrooms.

 

Shortly before 11:30 a.m. on September 24, 2025, members of the Windsor Police Drugs and Guns Unit (DIGS) executed a search warrant at the dispensary, located in the 300 block of Ouellette Avenue.

 

During the search, officers located and seized the following:

•             84 packages of psilocybin-infused gummies

•             51 bottles of psilocybin capsules

•             69 psilocybin-infused chocolate bars

•             112 packages of dried psilocybin

•             2 packages of candy freeze-dried psilocybin

•             2 psilocybin vape cartridges

•             $2,900 in Canadian currency

•             $100 in US currency

 

A 52-year-old employee on scene at the time has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking.

 

Health Canada warns that taking magic mushrooms can cause people to “see, hear or feel things that are not there, or to experience anxiety, fear, nausea and muscle twitches accompanied by increased heart rate and blood pressure.”
