Arson investigation underway after west-end fire

The Windsor Police Service has launched an arson investigation after a suspicious fire caused extensive damage to a vacant building in the city’s west end.

On July 14, 2025, shortly after 5 p.m., officers responded to a report of an active fire in the 900 block of Campbell Avenue. Windsor Fire & Rescue Services attended and quickly extinguished the blaze. No physical injuries were reported, but the fire caused approximately $500,000 in damages to the vacant building and neighbouring residences.

Following an investigation, the Windsor Police Arson Unit has determined that the fire was deliberately set. A suspect was seen on the property shortly before the incident. He is described as an Asian male with a dark complexion and medium build, wearing an orange coat and hat. He was last seen fleeing the area on a bicycle.

Residents and businesses in the area are asked to review their surveillance or dashcam footage for any evidence that may assist investigators.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Windsor Police Service Arson Unit at 519-255-6700, ext. 4330. Information can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477 (TIPS) or online at www.catchcrooks.com.
