Case #: 25-43559

$30,000 in illegal drugs seized from psilocybin dispensary

The Windsor Police Service has charged one individual and seized $29,835 in illegal drugs from a dispensary that sells psilocybin, commonly known as magic mushrooms.

Shortly before 11:30 a.m., on May 7, 2025, members of the Drugs and Guns Unit (DIGS) executed a search warrant at the dispensary, located in the 300 block of Ouellette Avenue.

During the search, officers located and seized the following:

•             217 bags of dried psilocybin

•             94 containers of psilocybin tablets

•             55 psilocybin chocolate bars

•             36 packages of psilocybin gummy bears

•             6 dimethyltryptamine (DMT) vapes

•             6 containers of dried psilocybin

•             $600 in Canadian currency

A 33-year-old employee on scene at the time has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking.

Health Canada warns that taking magic mushrooms can cause people to “see, hear or feel things that are not there, or to experience anxiety, fear, nausea and muscle twitches accompanied by increased heart rate and blood pressure.”

This remains an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Windsor Police DIGS Unit at 519-255-6700, ext. 4361. They can also contact Windsor & Essex County Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477 (TIPS) or online at www.catchcrooks.com.
