Fatal house fire under investigation

The Windsor Police Service has launched an arson investigation following a fatal house fire in Amherstburg.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m. on July 3, 2026, officers responded to an active residential fire in the 100 block of Texas Road. The Amherstburg Fire Department were also dispatched and successfully extinguished the blaze.

Firefighters located a 47-year-old man during a search of the residence. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
